Becoming a Driving Instructor in Stockport
Becoming a driving instructor requires more than just excellent driving skills. You will need to enjoy meeting new people, and it is very satisfying when you help someone to change their lives by passing their driving test. You’ll also need to have plenty of patience, and thorough knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of driving – something our ORDIT registered driving school business (Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers) teaches to the highest DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) standards.
If that sounds like you, then driving instructor training in Stockport and the surrounding area can be the start of a new and fulfilling career!
Legal Requirement and Qualification Process
In order to begin your application for a driving instructor qualification, there are certain legal requirements that you’ll have to meet, as set out by the DVLA. First of all, you’ll have to have held a full UK or European Union driving licence for four out of the past six years, and not to have been disqualified from driving for four years prior to your application.
There are three separate tests you will have to take in order to become an approved driving instructor (ADI). Within the first 3 months of starting your training, we will work together with the aim to have your 1st and 2nd parts of the ADI qualifying exams passed, and for you to have completed 40 hours of the specialist training required for your 3rd and final part. At this stage of your training you will have the option to take up a ‘Trainee Licence’ which will allow you to earn whilst gaining experience with real pupils before you take your 3rd and final exam.
