Legal Requirements and Qualification Process

The first step to becoming an ADI is checking that you meet all of the necessary requirements outlined by the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency). In order to begin your driver instructor training, you’ll have to have held a full UK or European Union driving licence for four of the past six years, and not been disqualified from driving for four years before the start of your ADI training.

The ADI qualification process consists of 3 qualifying tests that will assess your knowledge of driving theory, your driving ability, and your instructional ability.
